Free standing curved stair in walnut and red deal copie

This American style stair with a little “french touch” is a double curved string free standing stair ,with walnut steps.

Each  single step is curved to give to the stair a nice shape and smooth flow.

Underside of the walnut stair left exposed Like all our staircases ,no need to plaster or timber clad the underneath of the stair ,as the finish is just as nice as on the top.

A step toward accessibility

Art Francais January 1st, 2008

A staircase can be a difficult obstacle for older persons. It is therefore important to consider, from the first stage of the project, security and ability to adapt.

Based on several reference works, we would suggest in order to make a staircase accessible.

It’s recommended that the staircase would include the following:

  • Adequate width ( 85 to 90 cm)
  • Treads at the same height (18.5 cm max.) and steps the same depth( min.22cm, max.28 cm)
  • A limited number of foot steps ( 12 to 17 per flights)
  • Treads with bullnose
