How do we take measurements?
- RULES
- Width of the stair
The width of the stair is determined by the building use and the number of users
(60-50 cm per person)
We accept the following values:
-65cm to 120 cm for staircases in residential building
-120cm to 200 cm for staircases in public building
2. Headroom
minimum headroom= 190 cm
Normal headroom=220 cm
Exceptional headroom=185 cm(for cellar, attic….)
3. Dimension of the tread and riser
The ratio between the height and going(the step) is important: steeper a staircase is,the more tireing it is to climb it,but takes less room.
There are two considerations that must be thought carefully.
For a staircase to be comfortable, the going and the heights need to run on the foot step of an average person
(2 heights + 1 going=63 cm).cm
Maximum height:22 cm
ideal maximum height:18,5 cm (disabled or older persons)
